Reading is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Reading is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The best of the best, from the people that work there to the products they sell. We’ve loved all of the food that we’ve tried and are now doing the majority of our grocery shopping there. All of the staff are incredibly kind and Mr. Hershey himself is a wealth of knowledge!

We get all of our meat and dairy from Hershey Harvest, and we truly can’t say enough good things. The quality of the food is outstanding, everything is fresh, delicious, and you can really tell the difference. The staff are some of the kindest, most welcoming people you’ll meet, which makes every visit such a positive experience. It’s clear they care about both their products and their customers. The only small downside is that they’re closed on Sundays—but honestly, it’s understandable, and everyone deserves a day to rest. Just plan ahead, and it’s absolutely worth it!

Tried the heritage raw milk at this great local store, and it's pretty good! The store's milk and more dairy foods are from Robert Hershey's own authentically local farm, while various freezers in the store are packed with local meats. It also has shelves with homemade baked goodies, and a variety of more foods. By the way, Hershey Harvest is obviously named after the owner and is a local labor of love (it's completely unrelated to the chocolate giant). And speaking of .. I believe local businesses like his that are dedicated to local, can flourish in local regions everywhere and can challenge the giants. Hope you feel the same, despite the odds, dear reader.
